Address: Piazza de’ Ricci – halfway along the Via Julia
Pierluigi has changed a bit since we first started going there. It was always busy (booking advisable) and was very popular with Romans, particularly in huge family groups for Sunday lunch.
There were tables outside in a quiet square which could be idyllic on summer evenings, and though all the food was good and reliable the Insalata Catalana (crab and lobster salad) was particularly to be recommended.
Lately we have been wondering if Pierluigi hasn’t become a bit too popular for its own good. The number of tables outside has increased dramatically and although the service is efficient there is more of a production-line feel to the place now.
