St Johns Wood (JUBILEE)
This tiny French restaurant just off Abbey Road gets rave reviews in guides, and most of the praise is justified.
It’s a very pretty place, with tables among the greenery in the tiny front courtyard in summer. The cuisine is French classics with a modern twist, beautifully presented and very good indeed.
The price for three courses at dinner, with a very good choice, is £27.50 – not cheap, certainly, but probably worth it. My only quibble was the service, which was slightly unnerving. I’m sure they weren’t, but it was almost as if the waiters were exaggerating their French accents for effect. Oh – and the price of the wines.
However, the good news is that the house wine at £15.50 was highly drinkable. Booking essential.
