We used to make a bee-line for our favourite pizza joint in Venice, Sole di Napoli, until it shut down without warning a couple of years back. We've never really found a replacement, but Ai Sportivi, just a few doors away, comes close.
The decor is basic brick with wooden tables, and plenty of tables outside as well. We were there on a slightly chilly evening, so the restaurant was heaving inside with a mixture of tourists and groups of young Italians. Despite this the service was pleasant and efficient.
There's a vast range of pizze - around five pages of them - and they're very good value at €5-€9.50. The base is slightly tough but in general they're good. Other choices - mostly pasta and fish - are also available. House white is a slightly oily tocai; drinkable but not wonderful.
Not a special restaurant, but a useful one, and pleasantly situated looking into Campo Santa Margherita.
